Flourishing Stay At Home Mums

How Stay At Home Mums Can Now Have The Best of Both Worlds

The day has finally arrived. After another week of siblings arguing and misbehaving, especially when a sugar rush hits following too many sweets over the holidays, it’s time for your little darlings to go back to school. It’s a time for them to calm back down within the discipline of school and for you have have some well earned chilling out time as well. Stay at home mum images

Admittedly it is a pain having to get back into a routine. Making sure the packed lunches are made, that homework is done, and bags are packed with all the appropriate kits and worst of all the nightmare of having to get up early to get it all done.

Then the rush is over .The children are dropped off at school, but isn’t it quiet? No mess to tidy up, no running around after them. Watching daytime programmes uninterrupted is great at first but sadly the novelty can soon wear off with them being back in school. Suddenly you can feel quite isolated and redundant. The places that you once filled yourself when the children were preschool age, like playgroups, suddenly no more offer the opportunity to go out and meet with new friends. Also many of the mums that you made as new friends have also returned back to work and therefore there is not the opportunity to meet up with them even for a coffee.

What can you do in order to feel more contented and fulfilled?

It’s important to make the effort to continue socialising in one way or another……… which is why some mums I know participate in the following…

1. Socialising network sites

Many people now socialise via social websites such as face book and twitter. It can be amazing how many new people you can meet as well as keeping in touch with old friends. It can be exciting to share experiences and advice within these websites. They can also offer valuable company and ideas of how to get your self worth back.

2. Join a club or gym working_mum_fat_kids

Not only will a gym help you to keep fit and improve your well being but it will also provide the opportunity to meet new people. You will also feel and look great in the process which will help boost your confidence levels.

Many recreation centres and organisations also have clubs operating during the day offering all sorts of activities such as yoga classes, water aerobics, flower arranging or even art classes. Again these can offer the opportunity of not only trying something new but also meeting new people.

3. Pop for a coffee

Often it can be relaxing just to go and have a coffee on your own. Even though you have not got company it still offers the opportunity to have a break from the house. On a nice sunny day, if there is a beach nearby to you, there is nothing better than sitting along the seafront with a takeaway coffee reading a newspaper or even attempting a crossword to keep your brain active.  You will normally find that someone nearby will quite often be doing the same thing and will enter into some conversation with you which can provide some company should you require it.

4. Write an article or book

If you have always enjoyed reading or writing it can be enjoyable and rewarding to write an article to share with other people. There are a number of free article sites which will gladly publish your article and it can be very exciting when your first article gets published.

You could also write a novel or a children’s story. This can be done for your own enjoyment or you could even approach a publisher if you think you could be the next J K Rowling.

5. Start your own business Little Constructor iStock_000005755572XSmall

Running your own business from home can provide a perfect balance for mums. There are many genuine opportunities to start your own business. Many offer flexible working hours. Often all you need is a computer and a telephone. Your office can be merely a quick walk from your bedroom .You can work when you choose and take holidays around the school holidays. You can also still happily attend any concerts and help on school trips. The nicest part is that you can earn some additional money during school hours and help to keep yourself sane in the process!

I have helped many stay at home mums do just that, and the rewards can be amazing, enabling them to do what they want, when they want and earn as much as they want.

Whatever means you choose to keep occupied it is just as important to enjoy the valuable time as all too soon the next school holidays will be upon you !
Have Fun!

Warm Regards

ROY DERRICK
