It looks as though 2013 will encourage or even force more people than ever before to look for ways to earn more money.

Records show that recessions have actually helped people create new opportunities and earn more money by forcing them out of our comfort zones.

When we are faced with heart ache, sadness or financial pressure it can make us wake up to the fact that action is needed to change our lives. Most people have what is needed to earn more money…i.e some spare time, determination and the will to do so.

The New Year is a time when most people reflect on the year just past and what they plan for the future. Many people dream about earning more money, and some do so by starting a new small business or by changing their careers. But is this really the best way to earn more money and increase your household income?

If you search on Google for example ‘ways to earn more money’ you will find hundreds of suggestions from selling junk at a car boot sale to taking in a lodger. Gone are all of those silly ‘get rich schemes that used to saturate the search engines. From our own personal experience the best way to seriously start earning more money in 2013 is by either selling a product that is in high demand or by developing an idea you might have into a money spinner!

How To Earn Money in 2013

Well, first of all don’t be afraid to try. Most people are scared to take the first step or give their idea a go. Trust me there is nothing to be afraid of. I have tried lots of ideas most of which have been a success. Finding the right one can take time but when you do… Bingo the cash register will begin to ring !

People as young as 12 have put their idea to the test and have become very wealthy. So why can’t you? You don’t have to quit your job, or borrow lot’s of money. Why not test your idea or start a business from home to begin with… from your garage, your garden shed or even your spare room.

But first, think hard about what you need to do. If you truly want to do this right and earn more money in 2013 then find someone to mentor you to show you how it’s done right. Someone who has been there and done it all before willing to help you.

Most entrepreneurs have copied an idea or improved the quality of a product and made thousands of pounds by doing so. It is one of the easiest ways to earn more money. Making a product better, or sharing it with other people is a great way to earn more money than working for some one else.

Finding a product that is in big demand and by re-selling it is another great way to earn more money. It does of course depend on how much money you want to earn but by keeping things simple will help you to do so far quicker than trying to reinvent something that is already selling well.

I love this concept hence why we ourselves teach other people how its done. Don’t be afraid to share an idea with someone. You might think they will pinch your idea, but if truth be known, this rarely happens. When you think of your retirement what do visualise? Travelling the world visiting exotic countries, spending time chilling out playing golf or merely having more quality time to spend with your family.

Many of us dream of retirement and being able to do the things that we don’t have time to do when we are working, but sadly the reality, for many, will be very different. Most of us will now have to work longer and having less pension than would have originally been predicted. Not quite the rosy picture that we have in our dreams of retirement.

Is there any way that we can achieve our real retirement goals, namely to retire earlier and to be able to pursue our interests and ambitions? Fortunately there still many are ways that we can achieve early retirement but they all involve finding ways to earn more money to supplement our pensions or to reduce and live below your means. Let’s take a look at what choices you have.

Start Paying A Pension Early
In order to be able to retire early it is crucial that you start paying a pension as soon as possible as the younger you start paying a pension towards your retirement the sooner you will have sufficient funds to retire early. If possible try to enrol in a company pension but if that is not possible then make sure that you pay a private pension to a company that invests wisely to ensure that you achieve maximum returns for your pension contributions. Ensure that you increase your pension contributions every year as this will make a big difference to the amount that you will eventually receive on retirement. It is surprising how much extra money you can create towards this even by reducing on other little day to day things like having takeaway meals, smoking and nights out.

Live Below Your Means
Planning ahead is crucial. To get started write down a list of your current expenditures and cross out any that are work related e.g. travelling costs or business lunches.
The general rule of thumb is that if you want to continue to live your current lifestyle after you retire then you will need to have funds in the region of approximately 80% of what you are currently spending as work expenses equate to at least 20% of your expenditure. Therefore if you want to achieve this goal you will need to live quite frugally to save adequate funds for your retirement. You could also consider ways of reducing some costs when you retire such as owning one car rather than two.

You will need to secure as high a paid job as possible and live BELOW your means rather than to your means. This will often include forgoing expensive houses, holidays, cars and designer clothes. You will need to take into account any expenditure in order to stay focused in achieving your goals. Even Rockefeller carried a little red book with him to record everything that he spent his money on! This may sound harsh but achieving your dreams doesn’t come cheap and will require some sacrifices along the way if your dreams are to become a reality.

Earning More Money to Retire on
If you decide that you prefer not to reduce your expenditure than the only other option you have is to earn more money towards a pension or during your retirement years. The reality is most people don’t even think about this until it is too late. So what are your options?

Invest In Property
One easy way to earn money towards your retirement is to buy and rent out properties. With house prices and interest rates so low there has never been a better time to invest in property. Eventually demand for housing will become so great that house prices are bound to increase again which will provide a nice nest egg fund for your retirement.

Create A Passive Income
What is a passive income you might ask? Passive income is an income created by assets namely things that put money in your pockets whether you work or not.

One great way of creating a recurring income is by starting a business working from home.
